Button Overview

Parked_Night_NightVM.JPG

Above we have a typical layout of buttons on a handset connected to DTPBX. Your layout may differ slightly based on your tenant's configuration, however many of these principles apply to most clients.

In order from top left to bottom left, then top right to bottom right, we'll review each button:

  1. Line appearance for this extension (104) - a line appearance is where your phone can handle 'a call'; each call 'on your phone' occupies 1 line appearance. So, with two line appearances, you can place one call on hold, and answer or place a second call.
  2. Second line appearance for extension 104
  3. Park orbit 1 - Park orbits are parking spaces that every phone has access to. You can move a call from your call appearance to a parking orbit by simply pressing the park button while on an active call. That call can then be retrieved from any phone.
  4. Park orbit 2 - a second, distinct parking orbit; in this example, this parking orbit has a call waiting (the button is flashing red)
  5. Day/Night button - This tenant is configured to allow a manual day/night mode; in this example, the 'night mode' is active (the button is red). Pressing this button will toggle day/night with an audible indication from the system (e.g. "Day Mode")
  6. Day Voicemail - This tenant is configured with distinct voicemail boxes for day and night voicemails, either button may be pressed to access the voicemail (pin required), and then following prompts to check voicemail. (Note: the 'built in' voicemail button on your phone is rarely used in DTPBX tenants, as shared voicemail boxes are more common.)
  7. Night Voicemail - in this example, the night voicemail has new messages waiting (the button is red).
  8. Doctor Speed Dial - This is a speed dial or 'BLF' button that can be used to quickly dial other extensions in the tenant. It also indicates the state of the designated extension (the 'Doctor' extension is not currently on the phone, so the button is green).

A note on pagination: If a phone has more than 8 buttons configured, the 8th button on this screen becomes a 'page' button which allows you to 'page through' sets of screens with more than 8 total buttons.
